Speed Limiters

The Drive by Wire (DbW) Speed Control System, patent No PCT/GB2007/001751 is designed for vehicles with an Engine Management system (EMS). The vehicle usually has an electronic accelerator pedal (i.e. without a mechanical throttle linkage), which are now coming onto the market in increasing numbers.

The Autokontrol DbW system’s electronic control unit (ECU) receives frequency signals while the vehicle is moving. At a pre-set frequency, which may be the legal maximum speed or the vehicle operator’s required set speed, the ECU transmits a signal to the EMS controlling the top speed.

System 80

Road Speed Controls for Truck, Buses, Vans & Cars
System 80 is an electronically controlled, flow valve (fuel) regulated system, offering speed control in all climatic conditions for both petrol and diesel vehicles.

The Diesel System has an adjustable by – pass built into the valve which, at the limited speed, controls the amount of fuel to the injector pump, thus limiting the vehicle speed.

The Petrol System operates by controlling the fuel supply to the carburettor/ injectors which reduces the power available to the engine, thus controlling the top speed.

Engine Rev Control Unit

Many customers are more concerned about controlling the engine revs than any other form of speed control.

The reason is simple, stop over revving and you save money, every journey undertaken whether on motorways or in town and urban use provides a fuel saving.

There is no doubt our rev control unit enforces correct driver behavior and driving style resulting in benefits far beyond fuel savings. The chances of blown up engines, ruined gearboxes, burnt out clutches and excessive tyre wear are greatly reduced producing substantial savings.

Today the objective of all major fleets is to extend vehicle life, improve economy and reduce maintenance costs. In our opinion this product is a major contributor in achieving these objectives.

The system is so simple to calibrate, move three jumpers, rev the vehicle to the desired revs, press calibrate on the TCU, done.

Geokontrol Geofenced Speedlimiters

Another brilliant product from Autokontrol, leading the way in Speed Control Systems. The Geo-Fenced Speed Limiter.

Low-speed limits are becoming very common in areas designated as “High risk” often because vehicles are in close proximity to pedestrians and speeding vehicles are considered to be a major contributor to accidents.

Town centres, Land fill sites, Airports, Seaports, Bus stations and Distribution centers are prime examples and in a time when “Duty of Care” and Health and Safety are top of most companies agendas, the Geo-Fenced limiter provides the answer.

The system works by pre-loading the unit with Geo-Fence data which can be refined to cover any area as small or as large as you require.

(Land fill site example screenshot)

As an example a vehicle visiting an airport with the perimeter plotted in the Geo unit, will automatically reduce the vehicle to the required speed as soon as it passes through the entrance gates and on exiting reverts back to the normal speed.

The Geo-Fencing can be extended to cover any number of locations and in all cases will transfer the responsibility for speed control from the driver to the unit.

No monthly fee to pay only the installation cost. surely that is a winner!!!

A further addition to the Autokontrol portfolio is the “High Idle Unit” developed at the request of customers for vehicles, predominantly under 7.5 Tonnes, fitted with winches and PTO units. The requirement is for a product able to control the vehicles RPM when these additional devices are in use and the “High Idle Unit”, does exactly that.

The way the system works is simple, on applying the handbrake and activating the PTO switch the “High Idle Unit” uplifts the revs to the customer’s specification normally between 1000 x 1400rpm. When the PTO is switched off, it automatically reverts to the normal tick over. The key element being, that by keeping the revs constant, loss of power and over revving becomes a thing of the past. Councils and companies, particularly in winter conditions, when winches and PTO units are in much more frequent use would certainly benefit from the installation of the High Idle Unit.

The ability to stabilise the vehicles revs when the stress on the power supply is extreme, would greatly reduce the possibility of vehicle damage or failure. Autokontrol providing what the customer wants, at affordable prices.

The Trailer Speed Limiter System

Preventing drivers from exceeding national speed limits helps companies to comply with “Duty of Care Legislation” as well as providing substantial fuel savings & reduced CO2 emissions. In many countries the legal speed limit is reduced when trailers are attached to the vehicle, for example in the UK it is reduced from 70mph to 60mph.

Emergency Vehicle Limiter

We approached several Emergency services to provide fuel savings for a limiter that would lower the speed of the vehicle under normal driving conditions until the emergency blue/red lights and sirens were activated.

We have now successfully fitted limiters to Ambulances and Police cars throughout the UK, the US and Canada.

Reverse Limiter

Speed Limiter designed to limit the speed of any vehicle in reverse as low as 6MPH
